Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

ARFID is an eating disorder characterised by highly selective eating, fear of adverse consequences from eating, or lack of interest in eating, leading to significant nutritional deficiencies or weight loss. Unlike anorexia nervosa, ARFID is not driven by body image concerns or fear of weight gain. Treatment typically involves a multidisciplinary approach, including behavioural interventions, exposure therapy, and nutritional support.
